On the 15th February at the Creek Jumeirah Hotel in Dubai, leaders in Sustainability and CSR from the government and private sector were awarded the Gulf Sustainability and CSR awards, hosted by Awards International and supported by the headline sponsors Bee’ah with International Humanitarian City and Dubai Carbon as the Strategic government partners.
The aim of the Awards is to support organisations and businesses as a hub for sharing best practices and for promoting continuous improvement, learning and personal development. It is designed to showcase and recognise companies and individuals implementing outstanding CSR and Sustainability initiatives across the region that are making a real difference. Additionally, it also provides awareness to the current issues being faced and solutions towards solving the problem.
The Awards covered the main impact areas into Sustainability and CSR including Environment, Community, Workplace, Marketplace, and Individual and Teams. Several finalists from reputable organisations were selected from the different category entries such as community-specific and environment specific categories just to mention a few. According to the categories, each finalist had the opportunity to make a presentation. The presentations varied and touched on different topics ranging from Best Workplace practices to Sustainable initiatives, etc.
It was a memorable day with 20 Category award winners, the big winners were Food Banking Regional Network (Branch of Egyptian Food Bank) winning the overall CSR award and DEWA winning the overall Sustainability award.
It is much more than just an Awards ceremony. ‘All of the companies and individuals involved in the Awards are helping raise the bar when it comes to sustainability and to increase the awareness of the importance of CSR. In addition to that, it is a great platform to learn and share knowledge with a wide range of organisations’ – Gulf Sustainability and CSR Awards.
